Policies

Responsibilities of the student:

Books and Sheet Music: Keep track of your assigned materials and bring them to every lesson. We cannot conduct lessons or progress without the consistent use of all your music.

Practice: Becoming a skilled musician involves learning how to practice well. A minimum of 4-5 practices a week is preferred, with at least 3 repetitions of all assigned material at each sitting. Record how much you practice each week so you can communicate accurately with your teacher about this important aspect. Theory workbook assignments are to be completed at home.

Responsibilities of the parent:

24-Hour Policy: Please notify us of any cancellations or scheduling changes at least 24 hours in advance. Any changes or cancellations within 24 hours will be payable as usual (with the exception of illness). A 30-day notice is necessary to stop lessons.

Arrive on Time: Please respect your lesson time frame and plan accordingly.

Submit payment promptly: Late payments will cause an interruption in lessons.

Responsibilities of the teacher:

Availability: As your teachers, we are committed to being available to you at the scheduled time of your lesson. We make every effort to be reliable and attentive. And we make a special effort to prepare our home as an educational environment that is welcoming and fosters focused instruction.

Materials: We will order and provide the necessary music as each student progresses, and we’ll be sure to clearly communicate the cost of those materials.

Teacher/Student relationship: As we work with each student on musical techniques and concepts, we are aware that there are many challenges to these disciplines. We are eager to foster kind and compassionate relationships with all our families, knowing that tackling hard things with a friend softens the effort and makes it more rewarding.
